No, in fact they are highly populated in the deserts of the Americas. Though some species such as the pink fairy armadillo and the giant armadillo are endangered
There are about twenty different species of armadillo, mostly in South America.
While the nine-banded armadillo that has become very common throughout the American south is definitely not endangered (in fact, it’s considered a pest in some parts), there are some species that aren’t doing nearly as well.
The IUCN (International Conservation Union) doesn’t list any of them as Endangered at this time, but the greater fairy armadillo, southern long-nosed armadillo, southern three-banded armadillo and the pichi are all considered Near Threatened.
There are several other species for whom there simply isn’t enough information known, such as the lesser fairy armadillo – but it’s believed that their populations are decreasing.
Yes… cheetahs are more endangered though… write about them.

Not in the slightest. Their range in the US is expanding actually and they are a serious road hazard in the American south. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-banded_Armadillo
