Armadillos' skin has keratinous thickenings much like callouses you see on the wrist joints (you may mistake it for knee) of goats and cattle, if youve seen them. Under the epidermeal thickenings, there are also small dermal bones that form in the deeper layer of skin. The connective tissue of the dermis holds the bony plates together into a flexible yet strong armour, augmented on the surface by the thick scaly epidermis. Its like wearing a leather jacket decorated with steel plates and buttons

they have a very tough skin.. called armor.. its tough as shit.. it feels almost like plastic.

yes they are but 9 banded armadillo's skin is quite smooth.

Yes and yes. I used to have one as a pet. Not the best choice but interesting.
