i don’t see why not ppl use cereal boxes, and coconut shells. just make sure all of the spines are removed (wouldn’t want your lizard to lose an eye) and make sure that it holds it’s shape and color as it dries. i’d be wary of a cactus, since it is mostly water that it might just shrivel down to nothing. you could try to put a towel or ball or something inside the hollowed out cavity to keep it from collapsing in on itself as it dries. You may also want to contact a herpetologist (vet, professor at local university etc). to make sure the cactus does not contain any substances that are known to be poisonous to your lizard
