There was a cartoon I watched when I was a child (in the 80′s), it involved a girl with magical powers from underground world that was dying. I think the world may have been turning into crystals or something. She had the help of several companions. The comic-relief animal-companions of group were these two yellow creature like armadillos with trumpet like noses that could role into balls.

I loved The Elephant’s child. My boys loved the parsee man and now a new generation, we girls favor the painted jaguar in The Beginning of the Armadillos.
