Uruguay is a home some wild animals. One unusual bird is a rhea. It looks like an ostrich and is very big. it builds its nest on the ground.
The burrowing owl is another kind of bird in Uruguay. it is awake in the daytime.
Some of the mammals that live in Uruguay are armadillos, foxes, and pampas deer. The pampas deer are not very common. Sometimes you see a carpincho which is a water hog. There used to be mountain lions, jaguars, and wildcats in Uruguay, but they were hunted and were killed.
