i’m in a basement unit in central MN, not especially close to anything except other apt buildings. and they are all over the walls, mostly by the windows. at least one a day. they have a little shell with plates- like an armadillo- lots of legs- about the size of my fingernail. how do i keep them out? what are they?

I found a clean shell with no meat or anything, and don’t know what to do with it. Its pretty good size but what should i do with it?
Its a little over a foot long and i could make a hat but does anyone know a good way to do that
Most people like the Vittoria Randonneur or the Specialized Armadillo. Something not real heavy but doesn’t go flat easily. I like the 28-32mm size too.
